1. Jeera water (Cumin seed water)




It is very effective to reduce bloating and stomach ache. According to me it is the best home remedy for people have weak digestion and is very easy to prepare.

Preparation –Just put a glass of water on the flame and pour some cumin seeds into it and let it get warm till the time it get yellowish and it remain half of its quantity then serve it into a cup and have it.

Sip it slowly so that it get absorbed into your body.

§  You can consume it anytime.

§  It increases the activity of digestive enzymes speeding the digestion. You can also chew the remaining seeds which will help you better.


2. Hing water (Asafoetida water)




It is a powerful spice that works like a medicine for digestive problems. Hing releases the gas out of the body and increases the blood flow into the digestive system.

Preparation – Just mix 2 pinches of Hing into lukewarm water and sip it slowly 30 minutes before having meal.


3. Isabgol (Psyllium husk)




It is very high in soluble and insoluble fibre so if you are suffering from constipation, loose motion or diarrhea than Isabgol is the best remedy for you. Only the preparation is different for both the situation.

For constipation- Mix only 1 tea spoon of Isabgol into a glass of warm milk in the evening or before going to bed at night. In case if you can’t digest milk than mix Isabgol with warm water when facing constipation.

For lose motion- Mix only 1 tea spoon of Isabgol into curd and take it as a first thing in the morning.

Ø Caution- Isabgol mixture should be instantly consumed because it may cause choking.

 

4. Ajwain (carom seeds)/ Saunf (fennel seeds)




Ajwain and saunf both are helpful for digestion. Ajwain half secrete the gastic juices necessary for proper digestion.

You just have to chew 1 tea spoon of any of these just after the meal and you can also keep it handy with yourself always.


5. Aloe vera juice




Aloe vera itself is so naturally fibrous that if something is stuck into your intestine than it clears it very easily and also increases the water content in the intestine helping the digestion.

Just peel off a piece of Aloe vera and mix it into warm water and have it with empty stomach in the morning. Believe me you will feel the difference.

Drinking water




In your daily routine if you drink ample amount of water than it can be a panacea for digestive problems. Since water cleanses the colon and removes toxins and solid waste out of the body. So try to drink water as much as you can and keep a water bottle with you as much as possible so that whenever you feel to drink something just drink water. Never rush towards soft drinks.

The important thing with water that you should remember is that never consume water with the meal because drinking water with food dilutes the stomach acid and this will cause indigestion. So you should always drink water with a gap of atleast 30 minutes between the meals before or after.


Choose your food wisely


The food we eat decides the effectiveness of digestive system. But we ignore this main point very easily and go for the garbage which stuck into our intestine and slowdowns the digestion process and these foods are such as

·        Processed food

·        Deep fried food

·        Refined food

·        Artificial flavors and sweets




On the place of this garbage you can have some fiber rich foods which fasten the digestion. Few of the fiber rich foods are  

·        Oats

·        Dalia

·        Millets

·        Whole wheat

·        Semi brown rice

·        Nuts

You can add pro biotic food such as Dahi (Curd) or chach (Butter Milk) into your diet. The pro biotic are some good bacteria which are very helpful for our digestion.

And lastly if possible try to have salad before lunch.

Yes it might be a little difficult for some of you but it is most useful step in the way to improve digestion because not only it will provide you good amount of energy but also will give you a great body along with a healthy lifestyle. The exercise increases the blood circulation in digestive system due to which the waste travel easily out of the body. Even a low activity such as walking after the meal is highly beneficial.


Vajrasana (Thunderbolt pose)




We all are very much aware of the power of Yoga. We know what tremendous changes in the body can be done with Yoga. The most important pose (Asana) for the great digestion is Vajrasana (Thunderbolt pose).

Because when we sit in Vajrasana than major amount of blood is flown towards the stomach and it is the only asana which can be performed after the meal. Just sit 3 – 5 minutes in the thunderbolt pose and your job is done. You can also practice it in the night after having the meal for just 10 – 15 minutes .

Chew your food properly


This is most impactful but ignored one change in the lifestyle because in our daily life we are so busy that we are always in a rush. So we forget to chew our food properly.

Actually our body is designed in such a way that it can digest more than 50% of the food in our mouth only and for that we should chew our food 32 times per bite. But in modern day it is almost impossible for some of us, so what I suggest is that start chewing your food 20 – 25 times and then gradually increase it till 32 times.

Our mouth is the place where the food is mixed with saliva and more important enzymes which are necessary for the digestion. So just chew the food properly and half of your job is done.

So practice these tips and I bet you will feel a change in your digestion.
