Tea vs Coffee : which one is better | Health And Grooming

TEA vs COFFEE which one is better ?

Tea and coffee are the most consumed beverages in India and around all over the world. Most of the people have Tea or Coffee as an unbreakable part of their daily diet, but which one is better or healthy in this blog will discuss in detail.

We will discuss the stand of modern science as well as Ayurveda. I will also share my own prospective so if you wnat to know that Tea vs Coffee or both than this blog will definitely be helpful.

Friends! Do you know that the fashion of having Tea or Coffee has been in India for more than 100 years. The Tea culture was introduced by the British around the year 1836 where as the Coffee came to India well before the East India Company through a Sufi saint named “Baba Budan” in 1670. And the people are so addicted to these beverages that they can’t even start their day without having them. But should you have it in a daily routine or which one is better amongst Tea vs Coffee let’s find out.

According to Modern science

Both Tea and Coffee are non alcoholic, flavored beverages and very safe for drinking. Yes but there are some studies have done on this subject particularly and all most all have shown the benefits of these beverages only.

They say that in all the variety of the Tea such as

·         Black Tea
·         Oolong Tea
·         Green Tea
·         Yellow Tea
·         White Tea and more

They are –

1.  Rich in antioxidants (The antioxidants eliminates the free radicals in the body boosting the immunity) and also reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes and heart attack (Tea allows the cells to synthesis the sugar better.

2.  Rich in EGCG (A kind of phenol that has the property to shrink the fat cells. This is why it helps in weight loss.

Here it is very important to talk about Green Tea. Generally the Green Tea is marketed by companies in such a way that it is a very special weight loss drink. But actually the Green Tea and Black Tea are the same tea. The only difference between them is that the Black Tea is fermented while the Green Tea is not. As a result Green Tea has a bit higher amount of antioxidants and EGCG. Green Tea is not any magical weight loss drink.

Similarly when we talk about the various Coffees such as

·         Latte

·         Americano

·         Espresso

·         Cappuccino

·         Filter Coffee and more

They say that it helps to reduce the risk of prostate and colon Cancer. In 2016 an agency of WHO removed Coffee from the list of suspected carcinogens. Whereas it is also said that it cures the type 2 diabetes (By recent study of Harvard School of Public Health). And it also cures Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

Through they also said that the excess consumption of Tea or Coffee is also injurious to health since they both contain the chemicals like Caffeine and Tannin.

Caffeine per cup serving

Tannin per cup serving

               Tea

30 – 50 mg

3 – 12%

              Coffee

100 – 150 mg

0.7 – 1.5%

·     The Tannin prevents the absorption of Iron in the body making it vulnerable to anemia.

·    Also it leads to discoloration of teeth

.

·     Whereas the Caffeine is a stimulant which robs the calcium off the bones and instantly increase the heart rate and blood pressure.

Basically Caffeine is a mild drug which gives you instant energy and then suddenly crashes the energy. And on the top of that it is addictive. Moreover once you get addictive to Caffeine it will be very difficult for you to survive without it. Probably this is the reason some people say that they are not able to move an inch without having a sip of Coffee in the morning.

According to the modern science most of the people will not get affected by these beverages till the time they take more than 4 cups of Tea or Coffee.

But if you can’t even get off your bed without having a cup of Tea or Coffee then it is a problem. According to modern science the consumption of Tea or Coffee is best or most beneficial when it is consumed 30 minutes after the meal i.e. after breakfast or lunch. Avoid consuming these beverages after 5 pm because doing this you may disturb your sleep cycle.

So basically modern science givers you a clear vision that both Tea and Coffee are good for you as long as you don’t overdo with them. Keep a check at your sugar serving and drink them at right time and don’t take them empty stomach since it can cause acidity.

Coffee contains Caffeine so it is more addictive than Tea.

According to Ayurveda

On the other hand Ayurveda has its simple way of saying that do not include a food item into your diet that grows more than 100 km away from your home or your location. Because food which is not locally grown don’t get assimilate in the body properly.

And we know that most of the states in India are far away of these locations where these beverages are produced.

According to Ayurveda both are extremely drying and increase heat of the body. And to balance this property in India it is served by mixing some milk into it.

According to Ayurveda continuous consumption of this can cause

·         Digestion problems

·         Hair fall

·         White hair

Tea was first originated in China it is even there that it was used by the Kings only for medicinal purpose.

Ayurveda says that you should prohibit the stimulating addictive substances such as Caffeine or Tannin for daily use.

Whereas Ayurveda has a better option there which is alkaline in nature, controls blood sugar and also acts as a tonic for health which is ARJUN TEA.

It is made by the bark of Arjuna tree and used for

·         Cholesterol reduction limit

·         High blood pressure

·         Heat tonic
