8 THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER DO AFTER EATING FOOD




When we eat a healthy meal we just get relaxed, think  that our job is done and start doing more things which we think will be helpful for our health but knowingly or unknowingly we commit some mistakes that create some issues in our body. So in this blog we will talk about those things that you should never do after eating food.

After the meal we need to allow our body to focus on the digestion rather than anything else at least for an hour for a good digestion. But we often engage ourselves into some activities which may cause us stomach and gut issues as well as a host of other problems that stem from chronic indigestion.

Friends the actual problem is we often do things after the meal that we think might help in our digestion or metabolism and to absorb all the nutrients which you just gain from the meals. But it cost you with some or the other health related problems. So here are the things we avoid or not to do after eating the food.

1. Drinking Tea




It is the most common habit amongst the people because it is said that it is useful for boosting your metabolic process and proper digestion. But the reason behind not to drink tea after the meal is that Tea can also keep your body from absorbing the iron you just gain from the food. So according to a study published by American journal of clinical nutrition in 2017 you should drink Tea at least an hour after having your meal to minimize the risk of anemia and other iron deficiency related illness.

 

2. Eating fruits or vegetables





Eating fruits or vegetables might seem you feel like it is a healthy way to increase your body power but the problem is their fiber content could get in the way of proper digestion if you are eating them on the top of your meal and additionally so many of those fruits are filled with fructose that can cause bloating, because your stomach is already full.

3. Workout or Exercise





Well this is the most common mistake that many of us commit and feel that we are doing something great with our body but unintentionally hurt our body. A lot of us usually go for walk or limber up the body just after finishing the food. And get relaxed to think that we are helping our immune system or improving our metabolism.

But it is seriously a bad idea because it will put you up at a higher risk of indigestion, acid reflux and digestive distress.

The strengthening exercises may cause you more serious problems so just wait till the time your food get settle down at least wait for an hour after eating before engaging in any physical activity to make sure it does not affect your digestion.

 



4. Take a Shower




Taking a shower just after some eating never seems like a bad idea. It might look like that those two activities have nothing to do with each other.

So when you take shower your blood flow starts focusing on the temperature or your body that takes its concentration away from the digestion. So you just wait at least for an hour or 30 minutes to take a shower.

5. Brushing your Teeth




Many of us are told to brush our teeth in the night before going to bed but we take it just the wrong way. What we do is we take our meal and then rush towards the bathroom to brush our teeth which is completely wrong.

We commit this mistake in order to remove the food stuck in mouth and to prevent cavities but when we brush our teeth the acid removes in your mouth or teeth also brushed out and your tooth brush causes an abrasive effect on dentin that already softened by acid. It can cause you some problems such as tooth aches, bleeding gums and cavities. So I suggest you not to brush your teeth at least for about 30 minutes after finishing your meal so that the acid remains in your mouth get time to neutralize properly.

6. Smoking Cigarettes




Firstly smoking cigarette is harmful in any situation but cause some special damaging to the body when is done just after the meal. According to a study smoking can lead a no. of digestive issues including peptic ulcers.

It can also put you at higher risk for irritable bowel syndrome colitis and cancers related to the digestive system.

 

7. Lie Down or Sleep





Feeling drowsy after a heavy meal might make you feel like it is the perfect time to take a nap. But lying down or to sleep just after the meal may cause you some harm.

Your digestive juices could flow into your esophagus and cause it burn or become inflamed. This will also divert those digestive juices from your stomach and cause indigestion.

8. Drinking Water




 This is also a common mistake that we commit. Well there are a plenty of conflicting opinions about drinking water with or just after the meal. Some experts say that it helps to flush out the toxins from your mouth while the other believes that it can dilute those stomach enzymes and get less effective.

Cold water might specially be detrimental because the body uses additional energy to warm it up to internal body temperature that energy should better be used for digestion.

So these were the things or habit that should not be done just after having a nice meal. These things we do due to some misconceptions that many people follow. But they can lead your body to some or the other issue such as

  • Improper absorption of nutrients
  • Weight gain
  • Poor digestive system
